If you are planning a trip to Jordan and are wondering what activities can be done, here are five activities that can not be missed while you are traveling to Jordan.
Climbing the rocky steps to the monastery in Petra
The famous city of Petra is a major attraction in Jordan. The ancient Nabataean city dates back to around 300 BC. Visitors reach it by walking in a narrow valley between the rocky cliffs known as the Siq.
The Siq ends with an amazing scene of a huge structure carved into the rock in a wonderful artistic way called "Al Khazneh", which was named so because it was believed to contain hidden treasures.
Equally astonishing is the sight of the nearby monastery, and although this site resembles a treasury in appearance, it is much larger, and can only be reached by climbing nearly 850 steps, which was formed directly into the rock thousands of years ago. Climbing the stairs can be a difficult challenge under the hot sun, but it is worth it due to the stunning views you reach and the surrounding area, make sure you drink enough water while climbing the steps, and stop on your way to catch your breath and admire the view, this experience will not be forgotten.
Floating on the water of the Dead Sea with healing properties
If you are not a fan of climbing the steps of the monastery in Petra, what do you think about floating calmly on salty water that is difficult to drown in? This is the Dead Sea, the marvel of nature and the lowest point on earth, reaching a height of about 400 meters below sea level, and with water containing a high percentage of salt, ten times higher than the water of the ocean, nothing can live in or around the water, But this high content of salts and minerals in the water gives it healing properties, and humans have used it for a long time, and there is also black clay rich in minerals, which is wonderful for the skin. It will surely be an unforgettable experience.
Wadi Mujib Adventures
Wadi Mujib is a river valley that feeds the Dead Sea, is part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
In Wadi Mujib you can experience one of the most fun adventure activities in Jordan, including hiking, climbing and kayaking trips through the valley that passes through the Jordan Valley. Crystal clear water, an adrenaline-boosting experience all requires a certain level of fitness, and you will never regret this adventure.
Spend a special night in the red desert in Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum is also called "Valley of the Moon", because of the wonderful nature of the desert similar to the terrain of the moon, and the red color is caused by the iron oxide found in most of the rocks around the valley. The famous 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia was partially filmed in Wadi Rum, and more recently, The Martian was filmed in the region.
There are several ways to explore Wadi Rum's wonderful landscape, including fun desert safaris with 4x4 vehicles, over the sand dunes, or balloon trips over its towering mountains, and there are many permanent camps for the nomads who inhabit the desert and surrounding villages.
That's not all!
