Amman is a city of amazing contrasts
It is one of the most vibrant and authentic areas in Amman and has wonderful historical sites such as the Roman Amphitheater and Jabal Al Qalaa.
Amman Citadel
If you are looking for a journey through history, we advise you to start your tour in the majestic Amman Citadelon the foot of a hill overlooking the downtown area.
The site also gives the visitor a glimpse into the development of Amman throughout history. The Umayyad Palace, the Temple of Hercules and the Byzantine Church are among the most important stops to visit on Mount Citadel.
Souk Jara
The summer street market in Jabal Amman opens on Fridays and includes stalls selling local goods, pop-up cafes, street food and live performances by Jordanian musicians and bands. If you are in Amman during the summer, you should not miss a visit to this market, which is filled with everything suitable for the whole family.
Darat al Funun
Darat al Funun is located in houses built by Jordanian, Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese families. These houses represent a testimony to the history of Jordan and the Levant as a whole. Today, Darat al Funun is considered a true hub of arts for lovers of culture and arts of all kinds, and those interested in contemporary art exhibitions and cultural events. The house overlooks the vibrant downtown area in the heart of the capital, Amman.
King Hussein Mosque
The mosque was named after the late His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal - may God rest his soul – and it is the largest mosque in the Kingdom. The mosque's architecture reflects the Umayyad character that is widespread in many sites in Jordan.
National Museum of Fine Arts
The National Museum of Fine Arts is one of the most important art museums in Jordan, due to the fact that it contains a number of the most important art collections from 60 countries displaying the work of local and regional artists. The museum contains more than a thousand pieces of art.
Rainbow Street
Rainbow Street is one of Amman's oldest streets and has become one of the most important gathering centers for local and foreign visitors. The street is known for its variety of cafés, restaurants and some art galleries, which makes it an essential destination in Amman for anyone who wants to shop, spend an evening or have a snack.
Royal Automobile Museum
The Royal Automobile Museum was established in 2009 under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II. The museum explores an important part of Jordan's political history from an interesting perspective. The exhibits reflect the history of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan through cars between the reign of King Abdullah I and King Abdullah II. Recently, the museum included a number of non-Jordanian vehicles and motorcycles, such as a Bugatti bike from the 19th century and other rare bikes. One of the museum's most important exhibits is the 1952 Lincoln Capri convertible, which was used by the late King Hussein bin Talal - may his soul rest in peace - during his studies in England and at his coronation in May 1953.
Jordan Folklore Museum
The Jordanian Folklore Museum for Fashion and Design opened its doors in 1971 on the eastern side of the Roman Amphitheater in Amman. The museum also aims to showcase our rich heritage to the world.
Roman amphitheater
It is a restored Roman theater dating back to the second century AD, and it was built on three slopes of a hill. The amphitheater can accommodate about 6,000 people and is still used for performances to this day.
