One of the oldest and most important trade routes
What if you think about taking a journey from history in our time, passing through the Kings Highway in Jordan, from Jerash to Aqaba or vice versa.. you will undoubtedly be on a journey through time to wonderful eras.
You must know well the history of the Kings Highway that extends from Cairo to Damascus and then the Euphrates River, and it was one of the important trade routes adopted by many countries and previous civilizations, and then you will be on a date with these seven cities:
Jerash
If you want to start your journey from the north, you must start from the city of Jerash. In addition to its historical position on this road, today it occupies a good tourist position as an ancient Roman city and is one of the best places to visit in Jordan.
Amman
48 kilometers south of Jerash is the capital and largest city of Jordan, Amman is one of the oldest still inhabited cities in the world, and has many historical monuments and museums that attract visitors to Jordan.
Madaba
Madaba is located 30 km south of Amman. It is another of the oldest cities and has many historical monuments. It is known as the city of mosaics, and the village of Umm al-Rasas is one of the very important places, as it is classified as a world heritage.
Al-Karak
An old fortified city 120 km south of Amman, and due to its great history, you will find many antiquities within it.
Among the most steadfast of these monuments are the Karak Citadel, the Al-Zahir Baybars Tower, the statue of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi, and a number of shrines of prophets and companions.
Al-Shobak
It is located 207 kilometers south of Amman, and one of its most important historical landmarks is the Shobak Castle, which is located at an altitude of 1,330 meters above sea level.
The city is famous for its eco-tourism in the midst of the Al-Bustan area, the Al-Hisha forest and the valleys west of the city.
Petra
The Pink City is a tourist destination rich in every definition. Today, it is the symbol and icon of Jordan's tourism, about 230 km south of Amman, and can be easily reached from the capital or from Aqaba, which is about 126 km away.
Aqaba
It is the last city in the south of the Kings Highway before connecting with the Mitla Passage in the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula. It is the only Jordanian port on the Red Sea, and a Jordanian tourist destination for diving and beach tourism enthusiasts.
