The Al-Abd Palace is one of the most important Hellenistic monuments remaining in Jordan, because most of the Hellenistic monuments were buried under Roman and other buildings later in later ages. The most important one who provides us, and the first source of information about this palace is Joseph Flavius, a Jewish historian who gave us an accurate description of the palace and the site, as it was established by the ruler Hyrcanus, who was from the family of Tobit who lived in the beginning of the second century BC. This palace was used during times And Byzantine. The palace is a rectangular building with measurements of 18 * 37.5 and a height of approximately 14 meters. The thickness of its walls ranges between 90-92 cm. Some of the stones from which the palace was built reached 3.60 m in length and 1.90 m in height and was built of huge limestone extracted from the neighboring areas. The palace was built in a low-lying area that used to form an artificial lake designed to surround the building. Around the building there is a wall that acts as a barrier.
The palace consisted of two floors: - The first floor: - The palace had two northern and southern gates, and after the gates there are the northern and southern corridors, and the palace in the middle contains four rooms. On the western side of both gates there is a room that was used for guarding. On the eastern side of the two gates there are stairs leading to the second floor On the northern side there are two water tanks, and then there are two corridors. The four rooms were used for storage, and on the eastern side there were seven windows and seven windows on the western side of the building, and these windows provided lighting and ventilation for the place.
The second floor: - This floor used to be rooms for accommodation and reception. The construction of this palace was not completed, as there is no trace of the roof, and in the fourth century AD, this area was Subjected to an earthquake that destroyed the palace.
